Men of Tomorrow
Mentoring
Mentoring is the cornerstone program of 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville and its goal is to help mentees gain the skills and confidence to be responsible for their own futures, with an increasing emphasis on academic and occupational skills. Through mentoring, youth are encouraged to be healthy, educated, contributing members of our society. The 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville carefully screens and train chapter members to become mentors to our community youth. These men generously give of their time, inspiring and motivating young men by example.
‘Mentoring the 100 Way Across A Lifetime’ is a well-organized, intensely personal process. Mentors’ go into the neighborhoods and reach young people on their own turf: where they live, work, play, and attend to school. Through one-on-one relationship and group activities, these members become friends, advocates, and role models for each child, yet the impact of the program spreads out into the families and the broader community. Mentors install in children a sense of cultural pride, self-confidence and competence.

There are three major human investment principles that guide our efforts:
- King’s long-term commitment to a young man’s holistic development increases his confidence and his expectation.
- Quality education coupled with targeted community exposure enables a young man to maximize his talents.
- Significant 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville member’s focus, dedication, and commitment to join the 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville ‘MOT’ Mentoring program.
Long-term success in America requires a strong blend of knowledge, skills, and confidence. American youth demonstrate how well they have developed in these areas through behavior and their academic performance in school.

They also volunteer at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School and Westlawn Middle School as well. Each member donates a minimum of one hour weekly to serve our mentees. The Collegiate 100 mission is to impact them through our consistency, focusing on providing positive male role models and helping them to make processed decisions, causing them to think before acting. We advise them on behavior, completing work assignments and how to treat young ladies as well as future career aspirations.

Impact & Results
To raise the standards of performance, students must receive additional academic assistance and have a consistent support beyond the normal school setting. Our mentoring programs offer basic educational skills reinforcement, life skills, homework assistance, cultural enrichment, computer skills, and nutrition. These programs are developed with the anticipation that other organizations, agencies, schools, and parents/legal guardians may have the opportunity to play an active role in its activities.
The 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville believes that all children can learn given the proper resources and commitment from their parents, teachers, and mentors. When children are stimulated, motivated and provided a strong support system, they can succeed. The 100 Black Men of Greater Huntsville believes that their success will ultimately lead to stronger and brighter future for our youth. We know from the profiles of our membership that success was generated by overcoming challenges and education is the common denominator.
‘Real Men Giving Real Time’ is not only our Motto, it is our firm commitment to our youth and the community in which we live, work and fellowship together. While we would like to influence and positively change the lives of all of our youth, however, we are blessed if we can touch and change the lives of one child at a time!
